Overview
Emirates is a Dubai-based airline and is the subsidiary of the Emirates Group. It is one of the largest airline operators in the Middle East and is completely owned by the government of Dubai’s investment corporation of Dubai. Emirates started its journey in 1985 with a leased aircraft from Pakistan International Airline which was headed by Ahmed Bin Sayed Al Maktoum. On 25th October 1985, Emirates commenced operations outside Dubai with just 2 airlines: the leased Boeing 737 and an Airbus 300 B4. Currently, Emirates Airlines fleet size is a whopping 230 aircrafts, primarily of wide-body planes like the Airbus A380s and Boeing 777.
Emirates Airlines Frequent Flyer program:
For all its loyal members and frequent travelers, Emirates offer the frequent flyer program called “Emirates Skywards”. This four-tier program is used by over 8.4 million customers across the globe. The miles per entry varies according to the variants:
- Platinum: 150,000 miles per entry
- Gold: 50,000 miles per entry
- Silver: 25000 miles per entry
- Blue: 25000 miles per entry
