History:

·        1972: BA was born when the BritishOverseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) and British European Airways Corporation(BEA) managements were combined under the newly formed British Airways Board.

·        1976: In January, BA inauguratedthe world’s first supersonic passenger service.

·        1990s: During this period, BAused the tagline “The World’s Favorite Airline” and became world’s most profitableventure.

·        2003: On 24th October,BA operated the final commercial Concorde flight, from New York to London.

·        2007: In March, BA City Flyer, awholly owned subsidiary airline of British Airways started operations from itsmain base at London City Airport.

·        2008: In late July, BA announced a merger plan with IberiaAirlines that would lead to the two companies joining forces while retainingtheir separate brands.

·        2009: BA launched the Club World LondonCity, an all business class service with only 32 seats.

·        2010: Unveiled the redesigned First-classcabin and launched a joint business with American Airlines and Iberia.

·        2011:British Airways merger with Iberiais completed to form the parent company IAG, the world’s third-largest airlinein terms of annual revenue and the second largest airline group in Europe.

·        2015: IAG, the parent company of British Airlines and Iberia,bought the Irish airline Aer Lingus, adding the fourth passenger airline to thegroup.

·        2016: BA City flyer, the British Airlines subsidiary operating anetwork of domestic and European services with an Embraer fleet, beganoperations from London Stansted Airport.

·        2017: BA partnered with Marks and Spencer and started offering“M&S onboard menu” to the economy class passengers which were available forpurchase under £5.

·        2018: In April basic Economy fares were introduced on long-haulroutes. On March 31, British Airways became the airline to operate the world’sfirst and only billion-dollar route. In September, Open Skies ceased operationsafter 10 years and was replaced by Level, an airline brand established by IAGto operate low-cost flights.

·        2019: In March, BA unveiled Club Suite, the new Business classflat-bed seats in a 1-2-1 configuration that offers a suite door for greaterprivacy. On the same year, British Airways celebrated its 100 years of flying.

ExecutiveClub program:

Members of thisclub can earn two types of points namely Avios and Tier points. Thesetwo different types of points are earned in different ways, but the programitself offers members a number of benefits.

EarningExecutive Club Points:  

BritishAirways introduced their own Avios currency for the executive program. Memberscan earn at least one Avios point per mile they fly on all British Airwayflights. Though the points earned on one world and other partner airlinesvaries. In addition to the base earn rate, members can also enjoy a wide rangeof benefits. A minimum of 500 Avios is guaranteed with all BritishAirway flights, even when the route falls short of 500 miles. Tier pointscannot be purchased, shared or spent. The amount of tier points earned dependson the airline, fare class, cabin of travel and the route.

Benefits of Executive Club Program:

This program has four different tiers namely Blue,Bronze, Silver and Gold. Different tiers have different benefits specific tierpoints must be earned for tier upgradation. But some of the common benefitsinclude additional baggage allowance, reservation assurance, no booking orservice fees for Priority Reward Bookings, additional reward flightavailability in economy, lounge access and much more.

·        Blue is the entry level. Customers can justsign up for the executive program and receive the following benefits:

o   Priority overnon-members on standby and reservation waiting lists

·        Bronze status is reachedafter collecting 300 Tier Points in a year, and has the following benefits:

·        Silver status is reachedafter collecting 600 Tier Points in a year, and has the following benefits:

·        Gold status is reachedafter collecting 1500 Tier Points in a year, and has the following benefits:

o   First Class check in andboarding

o   Free seat selection atbooking

o   Access to First Classlounges

o   Extra baggage allowance

o   100% bonus Avios

o   Additional reward flightavailability

o   Access to members onlyoffers

 

Executive ClubPremier is aninvitation only tier, typically reserved for those whom British Airwaysconsiders as being of commercial importance (e.g. politicians, celebrities,CEOs, and other influencers). The tier comes with the following benefits:

o   All benefitsof Gold status

o   Access to all BritishAirways Lounges, including the Concorde Room

o   A dedicated 24/7customer care line and special email service for queries

o   Fees waived for allreward ticket bookings, changes, and cancellations

o   Priority considerationfor upgrades when the cabin is oversold

o   British Airways may evendelay a flight by up to 30 minutes to facilitate tight connections
