About Jessore

Jessore, formally Jashore, is a large city in Bangladesh's south-western area, located in the Jashore District. It is the administrative headquarters of the same-named district and the Khulna Division's third-largest city. It is the second most developed city in the Khulna Division and one of Bangladesh's most industrious and developed cities. Jessore is divided into nine wards and 73 mahalls. The municipality of Jessore was founded in 1864. The town has a total area of 21.15 km2. According to the Jessore municipality's records, it has a population of around 2, 98,000 people. Jessore is also home to Jessore Airport, a domestic airport.
